So....

Yeah I haven't blogged in a year. Is it bad that I cant really find it in me to care right now? I feel like nothing has happened at all!
Madison is 5 now, rapidly approaching six. Kelcy is 8. That is hard for me to believe. Weren't they just born yesterday??
Madi is starting kindergarten this fall and she is so excited. Honestly, I am too! Full day Kindergarten is going to make life a lot easier! Kelcy is in second grade and loving it. She definitely has Tracy's school personality though. She is constantly getting in trouble for talking. That is a problem I have never had! Madi is apparently Tracy reincarnated as a little kid. She literally drives me insane with what she does. Tracy's parents put a curse on him when he was little that he'd one day have a kid just like him... I wish I'd known that when I married him. ;)
The other day she cut a hole in our couch. A HOLE, in the COUCH! I dont even understand how that would pop into your head! Theres a whole host of things she's done that maybe its better if I dont remember later in life. She is definitely our problem child, but we love her just the same.
In April of this year, I  agreed to try the Paleo diet with my cousin and I'm SO HAPPY that I did.
It has been such an amazing thing for me. I've lost weight, my migraines have decreased and it is helping with my depression and anxiety. I wouldn't have thought that possible, but it's true. So instead of the original 30 days I committed to, I'm just going to adopt this diet permanently. Tracy and the girls are half paleo. Kelcy and  Madi are loving all of the new recipes we've tried out. Their new favorite is Spaghetti Squash and Smoothies for breakfast.
We're going to be making some big life changes in the next little bit, so i'll try to blog more if anyone actually reads this... maybe just for me in general.

Really?

Kelcy and Madi are cleaning their room today and Madi just ran up to me. In her hand she had a pin, the pin is pink and says New Mom with a baby carriage on it. I got it after I had Madison and I stuck it on my purse for a long time. I don't know how or why it ended up in the girls room. Kelcy naturally inquired as so why I have a pin that says new mom. I explained that I got it after I had a baby. Her response...
"Was that in high school?"
I think we need to discuss ages again. 

Car-ma

I had a car named Gunther. A 2004 Buick Rendezvous that we bought when we found out we were pregnant with Madison. We traded in Tracy's 2002 Chevy s10(Tom) for it. A few months later we realized what a mistake that was, but what do you do? Gunther was amazing for about a year. Then... problem after problem after problem. All together in the 5 years that we owned it we put about $5000 dollars into repairs on it. And that's WITH the extended warranty. I told Tracy we were going to fix our credit so that if it ever broke down again we were just going to trade it in and be done with it. About two months after our credit was back to an acceptable level, his check engine light came on. I took it to have it read and what do you know... a gross leak in the evaporative emissions system. This could be anything from a loose gas cap to a fuel system error. I was not pleased. I called Ken Garff to see if this was covered by my warranty and sure enough.. it was not. His check engine light went off later that day but I was sufficiently spooked enough to want to trade it in and be done with it. Surprisingly it wasn't hard to talk Tracy into applying for a loan. I'm a very anxious person. I can't deal with going to a car dealership and working out financing there. So we applied online and got an amazing deal.
They literally sent us a blank check so we could spend up to a certain amount on a car and just fill in the check. It was awesome. It felt so good to not have to worry about getting approved, or interest rates or anything.
So I started looking. I knew right away that I needed a comparable vehicle. We go camping every year and I know how much camping stuff we have. A car just wouldnt cut it. I needed an SUV.
I quickly narrowed it down to two. The Jeep Compass or the Ford Escape. I've been interested in both of these vehicles since they came out. So then the heavy research began. Gas mileage, horsepower, cargo space... I could quote these figures to you along with MSRP for certified preowned, trade in values, and features they each offered.
One condition of our financing was we had to go to a "preferred" dealer with our lender. Not a problem since practically every dealership in Salt Lake was on their preferred list. But two caught my eye in particular. Carmax and National Auto Plaza. I started comparing their prices for both vehicles I liked and quickly found one that I just couldnt stop thinking about. It just stuck in my mind even though it was about $2000 more than I wanted to spend. Well within our loan parameters, but more than I personally wanted to spend. So I kept searching. And I kept going back to it.
Finally, I emailed the dealer to see if they even still had it. I mean who knows how frequently they update their website right? It was probably already sold.
Except it wasn't.
And I knew it was supposed to be mine.
So I bought it.
And it was great! I walked into that dealership, took it for a test drive and then went inside. The salesman immediately started talking about financing, at which part, I pulled out a blank check and said "work the numbers and I will sign this" His eyes almost popped out of his head. It was awesome. So they worked the numbers, and we got a KILLER deal. The car had been on the lot for almost 3 months, and it was the end of the month. They didn't want to pay their insurance and dealer fees on it in three more days, so they dropped the price. and then they dropped the price again.
And I drove home with this:

And baby is she loaded! She's practically brand new. Whoever had her before me hadn't even opened the floor mats OR the owners manual. Everything is perfect!

So naturally, since I did something for myself... something bad had to happen (hence the title of this post)
Our computer died. At first we werent too worried, Tracy's had to replace power supplies for computers before. But then it hit us... Tracy's a multimedia major at school. ALL of his homework and software was on the computer, I'd just taken my sister in law's engagement pics... those were on there too. so he took it apart... and guess what? it wasn't the power supply. It was the motherboard. Our computer was toast with three weeks left in the semester and finals RAPIDLY approaching.
Awesome.
So we sucked it up... and bought a new computer too.
Goodbye money. It was great having you for a little while!

I looooooved this race! Seriously loved it. It was through the gardens at Thanksgiving Point and I thought what I saw of it was beautiful. I didn't take my Ipod so I was fairly focused on counting my breaths more than looking at the scenery but I was able to run more than 2 miles without stopping! It was awesome. :) My time was still slow. I wanted to finish before an hour and I can't remember my exact time now but I think it was 55?? anyways.
It was way fun to spend time with Dusty and Bethany. We need to hang out more!

So I didn't train for this race... like at all. SO I'm not at all surprised that it took me 1:11 to finish. Seriously guys an hour to run 5 miles?? SO WEAK!
Must improve.
And my camera died immediately after this picture. Jaci's parents were awesome and took pictures of us crossing the finish line.. but they are not fit for publication!

Midnight Moon Run! 5k #3

I really, really enjoyed this race. As a new runner, I felt a little out of place and was definitely trailing almost everyone but this course was HARD! It starts out with a hill that is almost a mile long. The upside to the crazy hill at the beginning is that the rest is almost all down hill or flat. I speed walked up the hill and then tried to run the rest straight. I didnt quite do it but I did CRUISE down the hill. I didnt try to slow my momentum at all and just ran as fast as I could down the whole thing. It was pretty fun. I finished in 41.20, averaging 13.18 minute miles. It was 214th overall (just out of the women) and 23rd in my age group, which apparently is 20-24. GO figure! I was SUPER HAPPY with this time! It's not my best time but this course was harder than anything I've trained on and I felt good at the end! My form must be improving because while my legs are tired, they aren't super sore.

About 10 minutes after the end of the race. We had a bet to see who's face would be more red. I think I won, but Tracy said he thought she was darker. I pointed out that her skin tone is naturally way darker than mine so I was a brighter true red... You guys can decide.

Tracy at the end. He finished in 40.37 143rd place over all and 14th in his age group. Not bad for his first run!!
