Love your body 6k (race #5)

Before the Race

After the race
I looooooved this race! Seriously loved it. It was through the gardens at Thanksgiving Point and I thought what I saw of it was beautiful. I didn't take my Ipod so I was fairly focused on counting my breaths more than looking at the scenery but I was able to run more than 2 miles without stopping! It was awesome. :) My time was still slow. I wanted to finish before an hour and I can't remember my exact time now but I think it was 55?? anyways.
It was way fun to spend time with Dusty and Bethany. We need to hang out more!

Temple 2 Temple 5 Mile Run

So I didn't train for this race... like at all. SO I'm not at all surprised that it took me 1:11 to finish. Seriously guys an hour to run 5 miles?? SO WEAK!
Must improve.
And my camera died immediately after this picture. Jaci's parents were awesome and took pictures of us crossing the finish line.. but they are not fit for publication!

Midnight Moon Run! 5k #3

I really, really enjoyed this race. As a new runner, I felt a little out of place and was definitely trailing almost everyone but this course was HARD! It starts out with a hill that is almost a mile long. The upside to the crazy hill at the beginning is that the rest is almost all down hill or flat. I speed walked up the hill and then tried to run the rest straight. I didnt quite do it but I did CRUISE down the hill. I didnt try to slow my momentum at all and just ran as fast as I could down the whole thing. It was pretty fun. I finished in 41.20, averaging 13.18 minute miles. It was 214th overall (just out of the women) and 23rd in my age group, which apparently is 20-24. GO figure! I was SUPER HAPPY with this time! It's not my best time but this course was harder than anything I've trained on and I felt good at the end! My form must be improving because while my legs are tired, they aren't super sore.

GLOW STICKS!!!

Tracy's first 5k!

Me and Dusty, before the race.

All 3 of us before. Our original group was 7 people. But it ended up just being us 3!

one last before pic

About 10 minutes after the end of the race. We had a bet to see who's face would be more red. I think I won, but Tracy said he thought she was darker. I pointed out that her skin tone is naturally way darker than mine so I was a brighter true red... You guys can decide.

Tracy at the end. He finished in 40.37 143rd place over all and 14th in his age group. Not bad for his first run!!

This is my reward... virgin margarita!!!

If I ever was RIDICULOUSLY rich

I would seriously buy these shoes...

and this dress (a few inches longer, and definitely not with those booties... ugh)

and I'd wear them around to clean my house, cause I'd be filthy rich and wouldn't care if I ruined $5000 heels doing dishes or vacuuming.
Or I'd wear them to watch the maid clean.
Either way.

4th of July!

Maddie does this a lot this time of year

There was this whole group of cars with hydraulics, and one of them died right in front of us and had to get jumped, it was awesome!

YAY MENCHIES!!! We love menchies, we go there ALL the time.

This was so cool! The sign says Miss Hotwheels... and she's in a wheelchair!

I love the 4th of July. I love America and I REALLY love fireworks. The 4th of July is one of the only holidays that we have traditions for. We always go to the West Jordan Parade, then have a bbq and fireworks at Tracy's parents house. The parade itself was good, but the people around us were annoying!! Tracy's dad always goes super early and sets up chairs for us so we get a good spot and all these people decided that they didnt want to sit on the sidewalks and sides of the road, they wanted to stand IN the road, the police had to push them back repeatedly, they kept getting closer and closer and closer. It was really annoying because they were blocking our view. Mikey almost got into a fight when one lady started swearing at Tracy's mom. I'm not generally a mean person but this lady... and all of her friends... they were very large people, if you know what I mean. VERY VERY large. I dont usually freak out about little kids running in front of us to grab candy or anything like that but seriously... if you are an adult, and a large adult at that, you had to know you were blocking everyones view. Is grabbing candy really that important? Yes that is seriously why they were that close, so they could grab candy.
After the parade I took a nice nap and then we went over for the bbq. Everyone had grabbed some daytime fireworks, like snaps and snakes and parachutes and smokers and we had fun setting those off while waiting for it to get dark for the big ones. I can't remember how it started but someone taped one of the parachute guys to an exploding ground flower and we became obsessed with trying to blow up the little guys. Tracy's mom donated a bag of little plastic fireman and police officers and we sent them for rides. The best was to strap them to parachutes cause they would just fly into the air. It provided hours of entertainment. But I totally felt like Sid in "Toy Story" I kept waiting for them to come out of the sandbox and freak us all out.

American Fork 5k or Race #2

(yes my face gets that red when I run... so unattractive)
SO this morning was my June race. 7 AM in American Fork, which means I had to wake up at 5:30 AM.
That is insanely early since I didn't fall asleep until around 4 (stupid insomnia.)
I loved this race. The route isn't easy but it was fun. It was nice and cool so perfect to run in. Everybody got a bib (your race number) with a timing chip in it so you didn't have to time yourself. (I did anyways of course) The time posted online for me was 39:48. That is a whole 3.5 minutes faster than my 5k last month AND this course had a HUGE hill. It wasn't very long but it was really steep and slowed me down SO MUCH!
My shins are killing me! It was so hard to push myself through to the end but luckily I caught up with Jaci and we were able to push each other through to the finish, crossing the line exactly together.
I finished 40th in my age group, 254th overall.
Stacey, who was running her first 5k ever, is apparently a master runner and finished in 27:52, 8th in our age group, and 72nd overall. It was amazing!
Julia finished 34:54, 29th in our age group and 192 overall! And the girl just had a baby 4 months ago!!! She even won a prize drawing.
Their food was awesome too. I totally loved it. I might have to make this race an annual thing.
the bad news is, I totally have shin splints... which means no running for at least 3 weeks... There goes my July race!
Definitely not the best but a huge improvement which is what I'm going for.

Running and running and running

I have a new goal people... 6 5k's in 6 months.
that's right.
6 races.
My first 5k ever was in May. My 2nd 5k is tomorrow. I'm signed up for one in August, and a 5 mile run in September, and of course the Zombie Run in October... so that means I need to find one more run in July to accomplish my goal. I'm sure I can find one. I've been training 3 nights a week (at least) and each time I run, I go for a full 5k. I still can't run it straight through but I am getting better.
The second half of my goal is to be able to run the full 5k in October. No walking!
Wish me luck!

Bitter much?

Do you ever look at someone else's life and wonder why they have everything good and everything crap comes your way?
That's pretty much me right now.
I'm not even going to try to hide it for the next few months. I have the worst luck ever. For some reason every one else's bad karma comes my way but I have almost zero GOOD karma. I dont really understand. I'm not a horrible person, I donate to charities, I rarely swear, I'm not a child molestor, abuser or murder. I'm not a homewrecker or a rumor spreader. I dont steal, I dont cheat, I don't break most traffic laws.
So why can't I catch a break?
I might have to take a break from blogger so I dont see everyone's fabulous life for a while.
No offense to everyone's happiness.
I'm just not feeling it.

My first 5k!

So about six weeks ago my BFB texted me(and the girls) and asked if we'd all like to join her in the Susan G Komen race for the cure 5k in salt lake. Since one of my goals this year is to get in shape I was super excited for this challenge.
I enlisted my sister in law, Alesha, and her treadmill, and we got to work. We trained for 6 weeks, 4 days a week, 4 miles a day. All together I ran about 96 miles before the 5k.
That's a lot of miles.
Want to know how much weight I lost??
Zero pounds.
Seriously.
ZERO.
How sucktastic is that???
The last week of training before the 5K was the worst. I had a horrible cold and could barely breathe let alone run AND breathe. I was convinced I was going to end up walking the whole thing (which would have been fine but not what I was training for.)
But being there totally motivated me and my ipod was playing some awesome songs! I put it on random and I swear it played everything I needed. I wont lie and say I ran every step but I ran over 2 miles of the 3 mile run. My time was just over 43 minutes.
But I'm not stopping there. I'm working on getting together a team for this run!
http://www.kissmedirty.com/
If anyone wants to join, let me know! It's also for a great cause and will be a lot of fun I think!

Girl's Day

So I was going to do some special post for my 200th post and I just couldn't ever think of anything exciting or fun so... screw it. I'll get around to a super special post one day but for today I'm blogging about something that actually happened TODAY! that never happens so enjoy.
So once a month, a bunch of us from high school try to get together. This never actually happens once a month, but we usually manage a few get-to-gethers a year.
This month, we met at Applebees at the Gateway. We ate yummy food and then wandered outside in the freezing cold. Ok not completely freezing cold, but close enough. We went to Barnes and Noble and then walked around Gateway taking pictures and laughing A LOT! It was tons of fun and we SOOO need to do it more!!
Here are a few of our pictures (don't kill me girls!)

Catch up

So I havent blogged in like a month, and it's not because nothing has happened but mostly because I've been to busy with my NEW JOB! And lets be honest, I'm lazy.
So to play catch up...
-I started my job January 31st, it totally kicks A$$.
- February 4th... came home from awesome new job to see Kelcy's awful self inflicted hair cut. She just had school pics taken today so if you're all dying to see it i'll post it soon.
- Jujube had an ADORABLE baby boy on Feb 8th, I totally called it. Jaci and I were talking the night of the 7th and I said I bet jules goes into labor tonight, cause of the snow" and she did. i rock at predicting babies.
-my NEW CAMERA (remember my goal list?)Arrived.. It's amazing and I love it and it was so worth every penny!

-Tracy had class on valentines day so we postponed it til the 19th and what did we do?

That's right! The BALLET! I LOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVEEEE the ballet! It's sooo beautiful and it was Sleeping Beauty which I was DYING to see. I never in a million years thought Tracy would have the idea to take me to the ballet.

You have now been caught up. :)
Tune in next time for a special 200th post...post. anyways. Time to watch wipeout.

Thankful

So I remembered last night at almost 1:00 AM that I hadn't checked the mail for a few days. So I put on my boots and coat and walked out to the mailbox. It occurred to me, as I was walking through my complex in the middle of the night, how thankful I am to live in a neighborhood safe enough for me to do this.
I've lived in a lot of cities. My mom couldn't keep an apartment to save her life. We moved every year without fail, if not sooner. I can't tell you how many times I came home from school to see the bright yellow eviction notice on the door. Trust me, it's not fun. And being just a kid there wasn't a thing I could do about it either. I didn't understand at the time that my mom was just NOT CAPABLE of being an adult. She didn't care about anything or anyone but herself, even now at almost 53, she is still this way. But I digress...
The point is, I've lived in a lot of places, there have been places where I was scared to walk alone, EVER, let alone in the middle of the night. This is the only city that I've ever felt at home in, safe in. That's why it's the only city I'll buy a house in. I want my kids to have that same safe feeling every day. I never want them to step outside and have the urge to run back inside cause its safer.
I'm not saying this city is perfect, because I know it has its faults just like every city, but I love it here. Lucky for me, Tracy agrees! :)

2011 Top 5 List

To steal a term from the boob nazi... these are the guys that I'd totally give up my morals for this year. (Not really, but it makes me sound naughtier than I'll ever be. Seriously. I'm good, I swear!)
#5- Joseph Gordon-Levitt

While he'll always hold a special place as the long haired alien in Third rock from the sun, he's also totally adorable. I loved him in 10 things I hate about you and in Inception he proved he's all grown up now. I love it!
#4- Jared Padalecki

He's a recent addition to my list. I never really "got" what girls saw in him until I caught an episode of Supernatural one morning. I've watched the show since it started but missed all of season 4. Anyways there was this one episode and it just clicked! He's totally hot!
#3- Ashton Kutcher

I started watching that 70's show reruns and I forgot how funny that show was! He's totally hilarious as the dim-witted Kelso (ironically what one of my friends calls me) and I caught a few movies that he's been in and voila he's back on the list!
#2- Jensen Ackles

I heart him. His face, his deep voice, the "smoulder" I love it.
#1- James Lafferty

He's totally one of those guys that is just getting hotter as he gets older. I know that part of my "crush" on him is the character he plays. I'm a sucker for a good husband and father. ;)
But, alas, not only am I totally married (cause thats the only reason we could never happen HAHAHA. Sarcasm people. It's a unappreciated art form.) he's currently dating Bono's daughter. Who can compete with Bono's daughter?? Bono's other daughter maybe?

Anyways. There you have it. The 5 actors who I'm crushing on this year. Honorable mentions go to Daniel Radcliffe (but only when he's playing Harry Potter) Rupert Grint (I love gingers), Ryan Reynolds (newly single!!) and Ian Somerhalder (mmm vampires are yummy)
